The story so far
Karanda’s journey began in 2004, where James and Andi met online on a mIRC chat room. Andi was the first DJ to support James’ music. James had early success signing with Andy Moor’s AVA Recordings, with regular support from Judge Jules on BBC Radio 1.
In 2007, James and Andi decided to join forces, and Karanda was born.
Their first track self-titled ’Karanda' received support from Armin van Buuren. Soon enough, ‘On Hold’ featuring David Call was signed by Markus Schulz to Coldharbour/Armada, gaining support from Rank 1, Sander van Doorn, and more. They later remixed Bart Claessen's 'Hartseer' for Ferry Corsten’s ‘Full On Ferry’ compilation, gaining their first support from Above & Beyond.
James and Andi proceeded to travel around the UK and Europe DJ'ing at various events, and signed with Enhanced Music in 2011. With many singles such as ‘Titan’ and ‘Kingpin’, a collaboration with Juventa, and remixes for Audien and Estiva, they gained more widespread support from Above & Beyond, Paul van Dyk, Tritonal, tyDi, Cosmic Gate, Lange, Darude, and many more. Collaborations followed with Fisher, Laura Shea, Store N Forward, Mike Shiver, Alana Aldea, and more.
In 2016, Matt Darey got in touch after enjoying Karanda's single ‘Supreme’ on Rafaël Frost’s record label, and they remixed Matt's single ‘Keep Talking’. James and Matt (both from Leicester) have since become good friends, and James was honoured to help recreate Matt’s legendary songs ‘Gamemaster’ and ‘Beautiful’ for Matt to perform them in Dolby Atmos 3D surround.
Karanda currently enjoy releasing songs with Elliptical Sun Recordings, Enhanced Music, and Raz Nitzan Music, with continued support from Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Cosmic Gate and more.
